In September 2009, all Guilderland students participated in a district-wide Safe and Respectful Schools survey. The survey topics assessed were: safety, connectedness, respect, engagement, appreciation of diversity, and self-regulation. Students in third through fifth grade were also surveyed regarding the prevalence of bullying and victimization. School staff reviewed survey results and identified opportunities to improve the sense of community within our school. The Pine Bush School Success Project has used school-wide assemblies to present information about positive character traits. The hope is that students will identify, apply and reflect on these traits while they are at school, home and in public. This web site will provide resources and ideas for students, staff and parents to strengthen their understanding of character education.
